When did El Paso go public?
  El Paso went public in March 1992, at a price of $9.50 per share (price adjusted for two-for-one stock split in 1998). On June 30, 1992, the remaining shares of El Paso held by Burlington Resources were distributed to Burlington Resources' shareholders. Why does my stock certificate say the company name is El Paso Natural Gas Company or El Paso Energy Corporation?
  When El Paso went public in 1992, the company was named El Paso Natural Gas Company. Beginning in 1996, the company began doing business as El Paso Energy Corporation. The company's legal name, however, continued to be El Paso Natural Gas Company until August 1998 when the company formed a holding company structure and the legal name became El Paso Energy Corporation. Effective February 7, 2001, the company's legal name changed to El Paso Corporation. Shareholders do not need to exchange their El Paso Natural Gas Company or El Paso Energy Corporation certificates for El Paso Corporation certificates.
My El Paso Natural Gas Company stock certificate is dated 1983 or earlier. Is it worth anything today?
  In 1983, Burlington Northern acquired El Paso Natural Gas Company for $24 per share in cash. Payment was sent to all holders of El Paso Natural Gas Company stock, regardless of whether stock certificates were tendered. Any money that remained unclaimed has since been escheated to the states. Please contact your state's Treasurer/Unclaimed Property Division for more information. Texas residents may contact the Texas Unclaimed Property Division at 512-463-6060.
I was a Coastal shareholder prior to January 29, 2001. What do I need to do to receive the El Paso shares and dividends to which I am entitled?
  Coastal Common and Class A Shareholders - Please contact our transfer agent, Computershare, at 1-877-453-1503 for information on how to receive your El Paso shares. Explain to the phone representative that you need to exchange your Coastal shares for El Paso shares. The exchange ratio is 1.23 common shares of El Paso for each Coastal common share and Class A common share.

Coastal Preferred Shareholders ($1.19 Series A, $1.83 Series B and $5.00 Series C convertible preferred stock) - Please contact our transfer agent, Computershare, at 1-877-453-1503 for information on how to receive your El Paso shares. Explain to the phone representative that you need to exchange your Coastal preferred shares for El Paso shares. The exchange ratio is 9.133 common shares of El Paso for each share of Series A and Series B convertible preferred stock and 17.980 common shares of El Paso for each share of Series C convertible preferred stock.
