Crawford & Company Establishes Transportation Product TeamFocuses on large trucking claims to manage risks, outcomes for clients
ATLANTA, Aug. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
To help manage the risks associated with large trucking claims, Crawford & Company (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB), the world's largest independent provider of claims management solutions, has established a new product team that focuses on high-value transportation claims.
"Trucking claims tend to result in large exposures and often are covered by policies with high limits," said Dester Terry, vice president of casualty services for Crawford. "They also can bring a higher-than-usual possibility of litigation. Our transportation team is designed to provide specialized management, particularly during that crucial window of time immediately after a claim is filed, so we can better control outcomes for our clients."
The new four-member product team is headed by Mark Killion, transportation product manager, who has a decade of experience in handling casualty claims. Product specialists on the team are notified about and review every transportation file and provide technical guidance to adjusters at the beginning and throughout the claims process.
Clients have been enthusiastic about the assistance and results the new team helps to provide, Killion said. "They love what we are doing," he said. "By spending more time at the front end of the claim, we can get a better outcome at the end."
Killion, who has spent his career with Crawford, began as an outside casualty adjuster and later served as a supervisor, team manager and branch manager in Ohio and Michigan before relocating to Crawford's Atlanta headquarters to lead the transportation team.
Killion has earned the Associate in Claims (AIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Property Technical Certification (PTC) designations. He received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and also attended law school before entering the insurance industry.
Crawford's nationwide Vehicle Services include damage appraisals and condition inspections for a variety of vehicles, an extensive managed repair network and towing services. As part of its recent expansion of vehicle claim services, the Company also launched a centralized claims center, Vehicle Services Connection, for 24/7 claims intake, damage assessment and oversight of complex losses.
Based in Atlanta, Ga., Crawford & Company (www.crawfordandcompany.com) is the world's largest independent provider of claims management solutions to the risk management and insurance industry as well as self-insured entities, with an expansive global network serving clients in more than 70 countries.
