Equinix to Host Seminar Series to Help U.S. Companies Seeking to Deploy Network Operations in Asia Pacific FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2004--
Networking Experts from Microsoft, Virtela Communications and
Equinix to Provide Strategies for Implementing Reliable IT Operations
in Asia Pacific at Initial Event in Redwood City
Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq:EQIX), the leading provider of
network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today
announced that it will host a new series of seminars to assist
enterprise companies in expanding their network operations to the
Asia-Pacific region. The initial "Asia Pacific Network Deployment
Strategies" event, featuring presentations from networking experts at
Microsoft, Virtela Communications and Equinix, will take place in
Redwood City, Calif., on June 24th.
As U.S. companies expand their businesses to serve international
customers, partners and suppliers in Asia Pacific, they face
increasing challenges in deploying their network infrastructure across
vast distances. Each new location brings complexity in the form of new
cost structures, differing risk profiles, local business and cultural
differences, and quality of service. New deployments require a steep
learning curve and frequently entail costly lessons. This seminar
series presents strategies for avoiding common pitfalls to ensure a
successful deployment and reliable ongoing network operations in Asia
Pacific.
The Redwood City seminar is targeted to enterprises that are
evaluating new markets in Asia Pacific or are currently operating in
Asia Pacific. Presentations will cover the practical strategies for
implementing network operations in Asia Pacific from companies
currently based in the region, including Microsoft and Virtela
Communications, and will review tactical approaches to ensure
successful quality operations with minimal operational costs and
on-time deployments. The seminar is targeted to IT, engineering and
network managers (ISP / WAN) responsible for site selection, project
management, budgeting, personnel deployment, vendor management, and
network architecture.
Featured presentations at the seminar include: Todd Thorson,
senior network engineer for Microsoft Corporation, presenting
Microsoft's recommendations for dealing with Asia Pacific carriers and
successful network deployments in Asia Pacific; Andy Funk, director of
access management for Virtela Communications, presenting his approach
for effective network service delivery strategies for Asia; Jay
Adelson, CTO of Equinix, presenting on achieving a high-performance
network architecture across multiple countries in Asia Pacific; and,
Everett Thompson, Asia Pacific business development manager for
Equinix, reviewing his white paper on best practices for enterprise
networking in Asia Pacific.
The Redwood City seminar will be held at the Sofitel Hotel at 223
Twin Dolphin Drive in Redwood City, Calif., from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30
p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004. The seminar is open to qualified
individuals involved in network expansion and IT infrastructure. The
seminar is sponsored by Equinix, Inc., Asia Netcom and Virtela
Communications. For registration and additional details, please
