ON Semiconductor (ticker: ONNN, exchange: NASDAQ Global Select Market (.O)) News Release - 4-Jun-2003

ON Semiconductor Works to Secure Supply Chain Against Terrorism; Company Partners with U.S. Government to Enhance Security of Shipping Operations

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2003--ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN) today announced that it has earned a Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification from the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection.

The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection last year established C-TPAT to build cooperative relationships with industries that strengthen supply chain and border security. To attain the certification, companies must perform an assessment of their supply chain and establish security measures to protect the international shipment of their products.

ON Semiconductor has eight manufacturing facilities, eight design centers and numerous sales and support centers positioned around the world to serve the global electronics industry. To fuel this expansive manufacturing network, the company manages a sophisticated supply chain that is in constant motion -- 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The non-stop nature of its international business led the company to become an early entrant into the C-TPAT program.

"Securing our supply chain is an operational imperative and the measures we put in place as part of the C-TPAT certification provide us with additional security to address the changing geopolitical situation," said Bill George, ON Semiconductor senior vice president of operations. "Partnering with the customs service is the right thing to do and enables us to bring additional strength to a critical part of our business."
