HOUSTON, Sep 21, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PROS (NYSE: PRO), the world leader in pricing and revenue management
software, today announced its participation in the Microsoft Chemical
Reference Architecture (ChemRA) Initiative. The ChemRA Initiative is led
by Microsoft and its industry partners and customers to develop a
unified information technology (IT) architecture that will help address
some of the business and technical challenges facing chemical and oil
refining companies.
ChemRA will address technology integration on a holistic basis
throughout the full scope of the chemical and oil refining industry
ecosystem. It will also provide a blueprint for a unified architecture
that will support enterprises in these industries to build powerful
applications that address user needs while being interoperable, easy to
maintain and easily adaptable to their current IT environment.
"With the global volatility in raw materials and currencies, chemical
companies around the world face intense and unprecedented profit
pressures," said PROS Chief Marketing Officer Tim Girgenti. "PROS has an
established chemical industry practice and has already helped the
world's leading chemical companies overcome these challenges. ChemRA is
a way for the broader industry to benefit from the best practices PROS
has established. The initiative demonstrates Microsoft's leadership and
its commitment to the chemical and refining industries by providing a
roadmap our customers can use for building their next-generation
prescriptive pricing solutions. With PROS prescriptive pricing, ChemRA
can extend its footprint to address one of the most critical business
disciplines in chemical companies today."
"The Microsoft Chemical Reference Architecture Initiative provides an
excellent example of our continuing commitment to addressing some of the
most critical business challenges facing the global chemical and oil
refining industries today," said Ellyn Foltz, managing director,
Worldwide Process Manufacturing Industry, Microsoft. "A standardized
architecture blueprint will serve as a starting point for organizations
in these industries to build a solid, unified architecture for their IT
assets in the enterprise and the manufacturing domains. Through our
collaboration with industry leaders such as PROS, we are helping our
customers to more effectively integrate business applications,
processes, people and data to facilitate more consistent workflows
across and within chemical and oil refining organizations."
