Rogers Media and Excite@Home Launch Excite.ca to Create Potent New Online Media Property in CanadaExcite.ca unveils global-calibre Internet personalization technology and
integrated search applications to help Canadians use the Web smarter
TORONTO, March 1 /CNW/ - Excite Canada today launched its
much-anticipated online media property, Excite.ca (www.excite.ca), to deliver
an unparalleled, global-class Web experience to Canadians through a broad new
range of Internet resources. The localized site includes features such as
powerful personalization that focuses on the individual experience, Excite
Search, an advanced, highly-integrated search tool, rich content from leading
Canadian and international partners, and integrated community applications
such as chat and message boards. The service, which leverages the Excite.com
International Network, is aggressively targeting Canadians coast to coast, and
expects to attract many of the Canadian users currently registered with
Excite.com. Excite.ca intends to quickly acquire users through its vast online
and offline media resources and its strategic alliances with Canada's leading
media properties to raise the bar for what Canadians expect from their online

Excite Canada was created last June with a 50/50 partnership valued at
$30 million Canadian between Excite@Home and Rogers Media Inc., a
subsidiary of Rogers Communications Inc. The partnership fuels Rogers' ability
to provide Canadian customers with innovative new avenues for accessing the
best media properties across multiple delivery platforms. For Excite@Home,
it strengthens the company's aggressive international strategy of choosing the
most progressive local partner in each global region to extend its global
brand initiatives.
