Weyerhaeuser Names Sandy D. McDade, Senior Vice President, Canada; Susan M. Mersereau, Vice President, Information Technology and CIO
FEDERAL WAY, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2003--Weyerhaeuser
Company (NYSE:WY) today announced that Sandy D. McDade would assume
the role of senior vice president, Canada, when C. William Gaynor
retires later this year.
The company also announced that Susan M. Mersereau would become
vice president, Information Technology and chief information officer
on Feb. 1, replacing Thomas A. Ped, who also plans to retire later
this year.
Both positions report directly to Steven R. Rogel, chairman,
president and chief executive officer.
"Bill Gaynor and Tom Ped have both contributed greatly to the
success of Weyerhaeuser," Rogel said. "Bill has been instrumental in
helping us manage our increased presence in Canada following the
MacMillan Bloedel acquisition and has helped us develop a better
understanding of what it means to operate as a truly North American
company. Because of Tom's work, we have significantly enhanced and
streamlined our information technology infrastructure while developing
an enterprise application strategy that will drive our company
processes and systems in the future. We deeply appreciate their
contributions."
McDade, 50, joined Weyerhaeuser following his graduation from the
Seattle University law school in 1980. He worked as a corporate and
transaction lawyer, and served as corporate secretary from 1993 before
being named vice president, Strategic Planning in 2000. McDade, who
graduated from Whitman College in 1974 with a bachelor of arts in
political science, will be based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Mersereau, 56, also joined Weyerhaeuser in 1980. She started as a
program manager and held various information system management
positions before assuming the position of vice president, Weyerhaeuser
Information Systems in 1988. In 1992, she was named vice president,
Weyerhaeuser Business Services and Aviation, a position she held until
1998 when she assumed her current role of vice president,
organizational effectiveness for Weyerhaeuser's Containerboard
Packaging and Recycling business. Mersereau holds a bachelor of arts
in history from Scripps-Claremont, a masters in history from the
University of Chicago, and a masters in organizational systems from
Antioch University. She also completed the Stanford University Senior
Executive Program.

Gaynor, 62, has served as senior vice president, Canada, since
1998 and retires after 29 years with Weyerhaeuser. Ped, 57, also
assumed his current role in 1998 and retires after 35 years of
service.
